It's New Year's Day in 2008

And here's some wishes I'd like to quickly relate

Here's hoping Foster and Syme come to their senses

So we're not speaking of Summit wildlife in past tenses.

Let's hope Royal Gorge doesn't cut all the shrubs and trees down

replacing them with roads and roundabouts like they've got in Truckee town.

We like the trails and native plants we have up here just fine

and want RG to spare us their bogus "natural" landscape design. 

Let's hope with this project Royal Gorge narrows the scope

so with ugly parking lots and hundreds of buildings we won't have to cope.

Let's wish that Foster and Syme stop coveting all our lakes' water

And instead, be good and behave just as they oughta.

We still want to see the stars in the night sky

Not hundreds of carlights as tourists whiz by.

Let's wish that this nightmare of 8 planned years of bulldozers will cease

as up on the Summit, what we wish for is PEACE!

Happy 2008 from Save the Summit
