ROYAL GORGE LLC'S DONNERBROOK FAIR

Oh, are you going to Donnerbrook Fair?

Please give my regards to the developers there

Lined up with buckets and pails, to the last man

Trying to secure water however they can.

They've brought along lawyers garbed for a fight

Twisting facts and words long into the night,

Accompanying them is the man whom for water they consult

The building of dams and fake lakes their desired result.

Oh, are you going to Donnerbrook Fair?

Give a shout out to the developers there

There's Todd, Mark and Jack of the Foster Clan,

Along with Kirk Syme, they all have a big plan.

Their plans call for water, in a quantity so stunning

They'll need their group to exhibit skill, wit, and cunning

Lawyers, developers, consultants all

Unified, fighting, backs to the wall.

Oh, are you going to Donnerbrook Fair?

A big hello to the developers there

Where they'll try to convince a water board that water isn't wet

And to water all their condos they'll brandish legal threats.

Foster and Syme think water for boats on Serene Lakes can't be allowed

And blinded by development lust, they're not noticing the crowd

As their lawyer says Serene Lakes can't keep water for swimming and boats

That water must go to Lake Camp as a beneficial use, he gloats.

Oh, are you going to Donnerbrook Fair

Give some advice to the developers there

All those blue- jeaned locals there have been 'round the block

And won't have wool pulled over eyes by lawyers' double talk.

Royal Gorge's plans for shaking pocket change and water from our lakes will all go bust

Because they keep forgetting that thanks to the Doctrine of Public Trust

Water can harbor fish, float our crafts, and sparkle in our lake

Protected from all the silly arguments they and lawyers make.

Oh are you going to Donnerbrook Fair

Do say adieu to the developers there

And tell them if they think they'll take it all to court

The plight of their case will be nasty, brutish, and short.

Well, it's really Donnybrook Fair, which long ago in Ireland was famed for... brawls. Will Foster and Syme's Royal Gorge LLC start a legal brawl over the draft proposed SLCWD ordinances?  So far they've just been submitting comments/public input, which of course they have a right to do- I just wonder why all the legal saber rattling on their part? Also, I wonder if they realize how suspect it makes their claims that they won't harm our lakes, when they complain about an ordinance that sets a maximum draw down level that is the same 3 feet they said in their latest water analysis they wouldn't draw the lakes below,  while they also make the ludicrous claim that we can't have water for boating in Serene Lake, but their proposed lakes can. It seems like the same water to me... also, we're all end users of the water SLCWD provides, just like they would be.  Lawyers making astonishing leaps of logic ought to look out for the holes they can fall into.  Remember, though, the lawyers work for Kirk Syme, and Todd, Mark, and T. Jack Foster, who don't seem to care a whole lot about the health, beauty, environmental, and recreational values of our lakes, not if this last month's actions are anything to go by. Don't blame the lawyers.
