DOES ROYAL GORGE X COUNTRY HAVE A FUTURE?

Reno Journal Gazette published an article September 4, which is subtitled, "Showdown brewing over fate of Royal Gorge ski area."  This article ended with a shocker. Here's the quote, "Even the future of the cross-country area is in doubt.  Royal Gorge will open this winter, but says grooming its 100 miles of trails for an average of 30 skiers a day is not cost effective, Livak says."  And you're selling season passes, Mr. Livak? Exactly how long will that season be,  and will it be the last season before the bulldozers come?

Remember when the developers Kirk Syme and Todd Foster were presenting themselves as stewards of the environment, and interested in preserving world class cross country skiing at Royal Gorge?  Where are those men today?  They're either unwilling to invest in the preservation of the cross country jewel they purchased, or unable to because they're in over their heads pursuing their insanely large development schemes at the summit.  Heaven knows, their lobbyist firm, Platinum Advisors, headed by Darius Anderson, costs a pretty penny.  And their law firm Stoel Rives must really run the tally up too.  It takes a lot of expert advice to get permission to drain some little recreational lakes, deprive Serena Creek and the South Yuba River of water, and raise a 30 foot dam on an historic meadow they promised to preserve only last March.

It takes a lot of money, a lot of chutzpah, and a complete lack of concern for all the environmental damage they'll produce with their "conservation camps".

Remember those "camps"--"Camp Clearcut" , "Wasted Wilderness" ,"Loser Lakes" and "Submerged Summit"?

No amount of clever, plaid flannel shirted window dressing will cover up the fact the environmental treasure that is Donner Summit will be squandered to line wealthy investors' pockets. Reality is poking jagged holes in the facade of Kirk Syme's, Todd Foster's, and Royal Gorge LLC's investors "Conservation Charade"
