IS ROYAL GORGE LLC'S TRUTH STRANGER THAN FICTION?
I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but "The Hobbit" and its sequel (how the heck are they going to do a sequel?), will, sadly for all of those looking for a part-time job as a hobbit, an elf, a goblin, or a dragon, actually be filmed in New Zealand, as was the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. For all of those who were hoping to spot Viggo Mortensen, perhaps if the sequel is in fact a "prequel", sorry. Really.
I only had a "bit" part in the delayed April 1 press release (KTG=Katie), but it was fun while it lasted. Maybe we could encourage Royal Gorge LLC to pursue some other artistic endeavor-- perhaps Rainbow Lodge and Restaurant, which are closed for the entire summer, as per Royal Gorge's webpage, could be used in a remake of "The Shining?" On second thought.....
I do wonder what events, besides salubrious rambles with water and sewage consultants, they have planned for the locale? As they haven't exactly been paragons of openness and genuine community involvement regarding their plans, let's hope they don't surprise us with something stranger than fiction.
